Contains an account of Meservy's combat experiences. Discusses his division's positions in Ardennes and on the Siegfried line. While on the Siegfried line, his company was caught by the German onslaught at the opening of the Battle of the Bulge. There he was captured and taken to the Stalag IX-B (Bad Orb, Germany) POW camp. Describes the living conditions, the mental stress, and fear at the camp. Devotes large portion to Meservy's involvement with religious groups in his unit. He served as chaplain, choir director, and LDS servicemen's group president. Discusses the strength he received from prayer, singing, and reading scriptures.
